AND GOD CALLED … JANUARY 2017

   AND GOD CALLED

REFERENCES: Genesis 1:1-10: Genesis 2:4-7 ( NKJV)

Genesis 1: 1-10    1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day. 9 Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 2:4-7    4 This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5.  before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

As we embark on a new beginning, be it a new year, new appointments, new destinations, new ventures, may we have new focus and avail ourselves to God’s call to break through the cocoon that conceals us. As we experience the metamorphoses of adventures, our faith to soar new heights, pleases God.

1.In the beginning when there was no matter God created the heaven and the earth as we know them today. Since that event there has been no new heaven and no new dirt. Have you ever stopped to consider that everything that we know now, is being made from recycled material? When God called, vitality and effervescence became evident.

The emptiness, darkness, formlessness and depths and waters were not the ideal for God and so He began to command, declare and establish. Throughout Genesis chapter 1, we read that God said; God made; God created and God called. Apparently, everything was insignificant before God called them.

2. Let’s focus on God called. The land appeared, at God’s command but it was dry and God called / named it Earth. We know that dry dirt does not produce unless it has some rigor with other substances. Seeds, water, maintenance, sunlight, wind and pollination are needed one way or the other so that dirt can be useful. It contains minerals, but for those minerals to be maximized, the dirt must go through some processes. Calling things… the power of the tongue… is one of the processes that we go through. Take thought in our dry places that we follow God’s example. Call and He, the Gardener, will answer.

3. It’s time to get back to basics. We, per Genesis 2:7, are processed dirt so that our life can serve His purpose. When we messed up the process, God sent Jesus to redeem us. Excavate this  dirt and find the hidden treasures God has for us. It may be time-consuming to do so, but He wants us to produce fruits for His glory. In this new season of life, there is an urgency to call on Him and draw closer. This process to heaven helps us to develop a relationship with Jesus who is the only way of exploring the path to God.

God gathered together the waters and called them Seas. Separately, they were just referred to as waters. Of course, water is extremely important, but whereas rivers, lakes and streams serve local purposes, seas have global effects. Seas as we know them serve a more extensive purpose than waters. When we gather together, we impact our community for the greater good. God called for us to see His Light as the means of dispelling darkness in this world. We too must call our fellowman together to advance the kingdom of God.

4. The Almighty could have left the waters scattered as they were, but He chose to gather them. What about things that belong to us but they are scattered wherever. Could it be that He wants us to call/ name them? Speak positively about the things that God has ordained for our use, thus calling them. God called, then He saw and proclaimed that it was good.  God assessed what He called.

Be mindful that when faith speaks, it produces only good. The dry land existed before God spoke, but take notice that it appeared after He spoke. This example serves to remind us that ” there is nothing new under the sun”. May God increase our faith so that our expectations can be materialized.

5. The holy, righteous God commanded, because He is the Author. When we have a relationship with Him, He gives us the power to ‘call the things that be not, as though they were.’ In other words, the things that are not yet seen must be thought of as if they already existed in the past. In that way, we look for them in the future which could be now or later.

….And God called. When do you think is a good time to follow His example? Today is as good a time as any so that we too can say, “It is good.”
